As we kick 2024 out the door and welcome 2025 with open arms, join us for a series of interviews with artists who’ve braved the year’s riffs, breakdowns, and questionable soundchecks. We’re diving into their triumphs, challenges, and everything that kept the music industry alive and kicking. We sat down with country rock singer-songwriter Cory Marks to hear how he experienced 2024.
Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. This is a short recap of 2024, so let’s dive straight into it. The year is almost coming to an end, how do you look back to 2024 in general?
I think it’s really been a great year for me on many different levels. Started the year on a 32-date tour across Canada, headlined several festivals in Canada, and was direct support on some of the biggest festival stages in America throughout the summer. I’ve been releasing new music climbing multiple charts in multiple countries between country and rock charts here in Canada, the USA, Germany, Australia, and France which I’m very excited about. Sold out my homecoming show in my hometown at the legendary Capitol Theatre which was definitely one of those shows I won’t ever forget. My songs have passed over the 300 million global streams which I never knew would even be possible for me and was only a dream. From October 28th to November 24th I toured across the US with my friends THEORY OF A DEADMAN and a brand new album “Sorry For Nothing” to end the year on December 6th. I’ve found new management and agency putting together a great team to start off 2025. Logged some awesome flying hours over the summer and fall. Oh, and I got engaged at a Bryan Adams concert in Pittsburgh, PA in March!!
On December 6th, 2024, you will release your new album, “Sorry for Nothing,” did you spend the whole year working on it?
This album took almost 3 years to put together and overall I think is my best work yet. It’s something special and unique that I am very proud of!
There were already a few songs released from the album, how has the reception been so far?
I think the fans including myself are very eager to have this record out to the world! We’ve released 6 songs since mid-June and we are already pushing 20 million global streams so far and seems to climb daily!
Assuming you also listen to music, have you (re-)discovered any music during 2024 that you want to share with our readers?
There’s been a lot of new music and acts that I’m excited for. My friends THEORY OF A DEADMAN, FLAT BLACK, ZAC TOP, Cody Johnson, LIMP BIZKIT are apparently dropping a new record, and its great to hear Brad Paisley dropping new music!
What do you have in store for us in 2025?
There is so much already lined up for 2025… some places I’ve never been before, more tours, and more new music!
