As we kick 2024 out the door and welcome 2025 with open arms, join us for a series of interviews with artists who’ve braved the year’s riffs, breakdowns, and questionable soundchecks. We’re diving into their triumphs, challenges, and everything that kept the music industry alive and kicking. We sat down with metalcore act BALANCE BREACH to hear how they experienced 2024.
Hi there! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer these questions. 2024 seems to have been a productive year for BALANCE BREACH. What were you all up to?
Thanks for having us! 2024 totally was a productive year for us. We wrote and recorded most of our upcoming album, ”Save Our Souls,” which is set to be released on March 7th, 2025. There’s always a lot to do when preparing for a release, like shooting music videos and taking care of other related tasks. We also had a great run of amazing gigs in Finland and Central Europe. The European tour with BLOODRED HOURGLASS in the spring was definitely the highlight of the year for all of us.
You have been releasing new music during the previous year, and you have also been pushing your sound a little. How have people received the new music?
Yeah, we’ve already released five singles from the upcoming album, and with those songs, we’ve pushed and expanded our sound in new directions. For me, that’s one of the most exciting things about creating music—trying new things fearlessly and following intuition without any boundaries or limits. Luckily, our audience has never expected us to strictly stick to a specific sound or style. So whether it’s our heaviest song or the most pop-rock-influenced one to date, people seem excited when we have something new to offer.
You also had some shows during 2024. What were some of the most memorable moments you had during your performances?
There were so many memorable moments during our gigs in 2024, but the first one that comes to mind has to be the crowdsurfing at the first show of the European tour with BLOODRED HOURGLASS in Hamburg! The venue was completely sold out, and we’d been awake for almost 36 hours after traveling from Mikkeli to Hamburg. The club was so hot and loud, and I remember thinking like, “Damn, this is what we live for!” I felt so happy knowing there were so many more gigs ahead, as it was only the first show of the tour.
Have you (re-)discovered any music during 2024 that you want to share with our readers?
Of course, there’s always plenty of new music coming from all over, and I’ve always loved talking with people about new discoveries! Some cool bands that became favorites of mine in 2024 were DEAD POET SOCIETY, BOSTON MANOR, MAKE THEM SUFFER, and SILENT PLANET. A couple of slightly more unexpected finds for me were the German DJ Koze and the American country singer Tyler Childers.
What does BALANCE BREACH have in store for us in 2025?
First and foremost, on March 7th, 2025, we’re releasing our third full-length album, ”Save Our Souls.” We’ve also got a bunch of really exciting shows coming up, and we hope to announce them all soon. Be sure to follow us on our socials to find out when we’ll be playing in your hometown! The album release show will be at On the Rocks in Helsinki on March 22th, and we hope to see as many of you there as possible!
