SONATA ARCTICA, the power metal legends from Kemi, graced the city of Turku with their acoustic set this autumn, performing at Logomo’s theater stage on Friday, October 14th, 2022.
The atmosphere was intimate in the venue, with only about a hundred people in attendance; it was more like a living room concert than a big gig in one of the town’s larger arenas. The band played a very varied set, consisting of both their new and old songs. As an avid fan of metal music, it was a bit strange to hear these rock classics being played in such an unconventional way. However, as soon as Tony Kakko took over the stage for the first song, it was clear that he knew how to put on an amazing performance in an acoustic setup as well. The band played a few ballads, like “Letter to Dana” or “Tallulah,” which are perfect for an acoustic show, but followed them shortly with heavier songs such as “Flag in the Ground” or “Don’t Say a Word” which have been brilliantly arranged for an acoustic performance.
