We have shared our lists of favorite releases from 2022 with you, but we haven’t quite hyped you up yet for the new year. Quite a lot of bands have already announced new albums, while others have hinted at new releases. We’ve collected 10 Finnish bands that are worth looking out for in 2023.

Shereign

While many of the names within SHEREIGN may be familiar to you from bands like FEAR OF DOMINATION and BLACK LIGHT DISCIPLINE, this heavy metal group is still fresh on the scene, having been around since late 2020. It’s finally time for the band to unveil their debut record, “Ghost Diaries,” out on January 20th, 2022.

Oceanhoarse

While another year has passed, Finland’s most productive heavy metal band hasn’t been sitting still. Apart from a European tour, their sophomore studio recording has been in the making. OCEANHOARSE will release “Heads Will Roll” on February 17th, 2023, via Noble Demon Records.

Bloodred Hourglass

Even though it felt like yesterday that melodic death metal act BLOODRED HOURGLASS released their excelling Your Highness,” a new album is already in the making. The band released a first taste of the upcoming album with their first single, “In Lieu of Flowers.” With a management deal with Till Dawn They Count Ltd, it will only be a matter of time before these guys will hit arenas around the world.

Warmen

While we still don’t know exactly when this album is going to be released, one thing is for sure: Finnish heavy metal ensemble WARMEN is back and have been working on a new record. As per Janne Wirman, they even signed a record deal, so it sounds like things are moving fast. Let’s cross our fingers in hopes that we will find out more soon! In the meantime here’s a throwback:

Luna Kills

Ever since we discovered alternative rock/metal act LUNA KILLS back in 2018, we’ve been an instant fan! The band recently announced we would hear new music in early 2023 and luckily for us, the 4-piece are extremely productive, so hopefully a full-length album will follow soon!

Metal De Facto

Despite parting ways with singer Mikael Salo, power metal act METAL DE FACTO have found a replacement in the talented Aitor Arrastia. The band hinted that they are currently producing their sophomore record with a still unknown theme, but have included a snippet for everyone to enjoy in the lineup change announcement. More details on the release will hopefully be announced very soon!

Silver Bullet

SILVER BULLET have recently announced their upcoming third album, “Shadowfall,” which will be released in January 2023, via Reaper Entertainment. It will be the first record with their new singer, Bruno Proveschi, so we can’t wait to see what these horror fantasy artists have come up with this time.

Pressure Points

Founded in 2004, progressive metal band PRESSURE POINTS has been around for quite a while, with them recently opening up for FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE when they came through Finland this fall. Thankfully, the band recently released a new single, “Collateral,” and also announced a new album, to be released in March 2023.

Crimson Sun

CRIMSON SUN surprised us in 2015 with their debut album “Towards the Light” and a couple of outstanding shows as the support acts of bands like CAIN’S OFFERING and EPICA, leading to a second release, Fates,” in 2020. The band have released three singles recently, so hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for a third full-length album!

Turmion Kätilöt

Europe is finally discovering the might of industrial metal act TURMION KÄTILÖT, who are currently touring arenas with symphonic metal act NIGHTWISH and power metal act BEAST IN BLACK. Next year’s musical start will be even better, as they are releasing their new album, “Omen X” on January 13th, 2022.
