18.10.2018 Poets Of The Fall @ Kulttuuritalo, Helsinki

Poets Of The Fall at Kulttuuritalo, was only a last-minute addition to my busy schedule for that week. However, it would be my first concert with Poets Of The Fall and I was excited for what I should expect of the band. Truthfully, I had no idea. I had heard their music before, but I wasn’t quite sure if it was really up my alley.

The band just released their new album “Ultraviolet”, which is what the tour is dedicated to. Personally, I had never been to Kulttuuritalo, so it was quite a surprise to me when I discovered that it was a seated gig. This, however, went quite well with the kind of music Poets Of The Fall is playing.

I, unfortunately, had already other plans during the support act, so only went there right on time for Poets Of The Fall, who started their show not much later. The audience seemed quite excited when the band entered the stage, to the tones of “Dreaming Wide Awake”. The band played quite a long setlist, and as mentioned before I was not really acquainted with a lot of their songs, however, time flew by with their atmospheric rock music that can touch souls.

With their poppy rock sound, that often has some progressive elements in it, Poets Of The Fall managed to capture my attention right from the beginning of the show, up until the end where everyone was standing up for them, not clutched to their seats anymore. It was a very emotional concert, with lots of energy. The band really knows how to engage with their crowd and it was clear that most of the people really had a great time until the last second.
